This morning my mother went outside because she saw something in our pool making ripples. She came inside in a panic, grabbed a net, then ran back outside. Like myself I had to go see what it was. There was a baby bird in the pool!! She carefully picked it up with the net and went inside to get a towel to lay him down on. When she came out to dry him off there was only one thing I could do, get a camera. I ran inside looking for any kind of camera to use. The closest thing I could find was my IPad. So I grabbed it. Luckily the bird didn't fly away. Now, for my IPad, they were some pretty good pictures.

Today I was playing around with White Balance. I was fascinated with my results.  I chose the best ones and the ones that stood out.  The first one almost shows a warm feeling, the second one shows a cold feeling, and the last one shows a warm feeling too.

Today I practiced some depth of field using dominoes.

Today's lesson was on shutter speed. Shutter speed is how long the shutter is open to take a photo. If you turn the shutter speed to 1/100ths of a second the shutter will open and close really fast, if you turn it to 10 seconds it will be way more slow.

This was taken at 1/4th of a second. It was so fast I couldn't finish what I was drawing!

This was taken at 4 seconds. I acted fast when I realized how fast the shutter was going to open and close.

This was taken at 10 seconds. I was able to write out "hi". (When writing something out in the photo be sure to write the word backwards, the word not the letters.)

This one was taken at 30 seconds. Lots of time to draw this.

I started a photography class (though it's through homeschooling). Today it was about the Aperture. Simplest way to sum it up is that the smaller the f-stop (Ex. f/5.6) the more blurry the background, the bigger the f-stop (Ex. f/22) the more focused on everything including the background.

This was a flower we brought in from outside. We used f/5.6. You can really tell that the main focus is on the flower and not the stem on the other flowers on the top.

In this picture we used f/22. It is focused more on the entire frame than of just the flower in the center.

Someone emailed me asking me what camera I use. Very good question! I use the Olympus E300 with a variety of lenses. I also use a Canon Powershot G6.
